Supply Chain Leadership Forum 2009 Highlights

The recent Supply Chain Leadership Forum, sponsored by the Supply Chain Consortium, brought together some of the world's brightest supply chain leaders.
Held at the InterContinental Chicago O’Hare, September 1-2, the forum proved to be a success with exclusive access to benchmarking results, breakout sessions for networking and facilitated discussions on supply chain issues.
Attendees included vice presidents and directors in logistics, distribution and transportation, as well as in other key supply chain areas
Topics such as global security practices, supply chain talent issues and trends, merger and acquisitions impact on supply chain, packaging sustainability, and DC automation were offered from four different tracks.
The opening day of the forum kicked off with an open microphone Q&A session on supply chain issues and solutions, as well as a general session on recession recovery comeback planning.
The highlight of the reception and dinner on Tuesday evening was keynote speaker Charles Fishman. Mr. Fishman is a senior writer at Fast Company magazine and author of The Wal-Mart Effect. His keynote speech was followed with a book signing of The Wal-Mart Effect.
Day two of the forum kicked off with the presentation of multiple types awards to Consortium members. These included: Hundred Hits Club Award, Special Survey Participation Award, New Comer Award and Advisory Board Leadership Award. Congratulations to the award winners for their outstanding leadership!
The forum concluded with keynote luncheon speaker Dr. C. John Langley, Jr. from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Langley is Professor of Supply Chain Management and Director of Supply Chain Executive Programs at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He provided a preview of the 2009 Third-Party Logistics Study: The State of Logistics Outsourcing results.
